Everyone knows Bess Bistro in downtown Austin as Sandra Bullock’s restaurant. While you probably won’t have any star sightings, this spot in the old Stratford Arms Building is something to experience. Bess Bistro is a delicious, cozy, dim-lit restaurant for brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night dining after the bars. Bess has french inspired cooking and the standouts are the Steak Frites ($19.25) and Mac & Cheese ($5) served in a individual sized caste iron skillet (both pictured). There are soup and entree specials daily, today’s was Tortilla Soup (pictured) and Eggplant Parmesan as examples. Hands down this is a great lunch spot, date spot, group dinner spot, the list goes on…..
