Ginny’s Little Longhorn Saloon in Austin’s Allandale neighborhood is one of the best dive bars in the city.  Being an out-of-stater living in Texas, I did not learn of Chicken Shit Bingo until a trip to Port Aransas last spring, no surprise there!  Three rounds of this game is played right here at Ginny’s every Sunday afternoon at 4pm.  Chicken Shit Bingo is so funny and if you haven’t heard of it before, the name is self explanatory!  Each of the 52 squares goes for $2 and winner collects $100.  Don’t wait for Sunday to visit this place just for bingo (it gets packed), play pool or come for the live music, playing almost every night of the week, the website lists the day’s lineup.  Ginny’s is small but there is plenty of outdoor seating where you can still hear the music.  Do something different, there is not much else like this left within Austin city limits!  FYI: only beer & wine.
