It’s not open just yet, but there’s about to be a new sushi player in downtown Austin. This Arlington, TX based sushi chain already has two locations open in Arlington and one in Fort Worth. I’m all about the restaurant openings these days! I met the owner and he said it would open beginning of July.

It will eventually open…so far the date keep getting pushed back further and further. I’m excited that I’ll be part of that opening team. Hope Austin enjoys this style of sushi. Very distinct to what other sushi bars in Austin offer. Definately a lot more laid back and contemporary than others in the area. I worked at two in Austin (as a chef, not server), last one was Kyoto…management at Piranha’s is a lot better and the chefs are a lot more conversational.

PIRANHA KILLER SUSHI
The opening of this exciting and unique restaurant in Downtown Austin will be August 19. I am very excited to see how Piranha has emerged its concept into what was once a warehouse space.
I have been dining at Piranha in the Arlington and Fort Worth locations since it first opened. Their dishes are vibrant and appetizing. The restaurant is fun, upbeat and there is always a big crowd. On your first visit, I would recommend sitting at the sushi bar. The chefs are very personable and in most cases go above and beyond to accomodate you.

Austin is in for one horrible suprise. I used to live in Arlington but now go to school here in Austin. Piranha’s used to be amazing, but years of problems and horrible service and chef changes have left this restaurant with no personality and boring sushi. If you like you’re fish covered in mayonnaise and ketchup, (serioiusly), then this is the place for you. I hope that the bugs didn’t follow them to this location too.
