It’s not truly summertime until I visit Ski Shores Waterfront Cafe on Lake Austin. I made it just in time for July! Open since 1954, Ski Shores must be doing something right. This Austin gem serves up classic American food that is exactly what the doctor ordered after a day of drinking on the lake. The food and lakeside setting attract families, old Austinites, and young folk alike. The Border Burger is legendary, the pizza is some of the best in town, and the fries are pretty darn tasty. Step out of the box and take a break from Hula Hut and Abel’s on the Lake to give this out of the way spot a try. Has anyone else heard a long running rumor that Maudie’s might open on the lake? Dream come true. FYI: Live music on weekends and closed Mondays.

When will I make enough $$ to afford a boat and live like real Austinites do? The Border Burger is worth the car drive anyway!
Spoiled Brat
After a day drinking on the boat, what tastes better then fried greasy American food? Perfection. And I like how they let me bring my dog and walk around barefoot.

PLEASE fill me in on your knowledge of Maudie’s on the lake. WHAT? I’m a lake rat and this would make my life complete. I’ve been missing something…
