Bill Baird’s new project, {{{Sunset}}} (pictured), records electronic and folk music and has been described as “ancient forests under majestic mountaint”. The ensemble plays tonight at Emo’s with Houston’s Wild Moccasins. The Sour notes will open up.

After Blues on the Green at Waterloo Park, you might consider going to the 2nd annual Nylon Summer Music Tour at Antone’s. Patrick Wolf, The Plastiscines, the Living Things, and Jaguar Love (pictured) have been chosen to christen the season. I adore France’s Plastiscines and believe Wolf’s electro-baroque-pop set will delight with large use of strings and chorals.

Tonight, Jesse Woods plays Subb’s with Dana Falconberry. If you care for Bon Iver or folk roots music, then check out the effortlessly and eerily natural Austin native and friend, Woods. Listen here for a bit:

Our very own Explosions in the Sky will no doubt play a beautiful set this 4th at Stubb’s. The intrumentals, loud and robust, will surely drown out the fireworks, unless of course they fire some of their own. Listen to “Catastrophe and the Cure” off All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone. The show is sold-out, but tickets are lurking ’round. Happy Amerika day, folks.
