Thai Fresh is a restaurant, grocery store, and cooking school wrapped into one.  This South Austin gem is so homey that you feel like you are in your grandmother’s kitchen.  If you have a Thai grandmother that’s an expert cook!  Thai Fresh promotes sustainable thai cooking and looks to local farmers and businesses for ingredients.  Meats come entirely from Texas; chicken from Buddy’s, pork from Peach Creek Farm, and beef from Bastrop Cattle Company.  Cooking classes are small and hands on, the schedule can be found here.  This newish spot is the definition of a neighborhood joint; affordable, cozy, and busy with repeat visitors, most of whom come by bike.  I love Thai Food and now that I know it doesn’t have to come dripping in grease, I can eat it more often.  Dare I say Thai Fresh is the healthiest Thai in town?  Yup.  Open 11am- 9pm daily.

a year and a half ago my husband took me to a cooking class at Jam’s (the owner of Thai Fresh) house. She’s so sweet and really pours her heart and soul into this business. Thanks for spreading the word. We go there occasionally to gather ingredients for the recipes she taught us!
