Shuck Shack, bringing the Gulf Coast to Austin.  Some friends and I tried this new spot on Friday and pretty much loved everything about it; games, huge yard, free parking, great seafood, nice bartenders, picnic tables for big groups, cold beer, need I go on?  We knew instantly it was owned by the same investors of Lustre Pearl right down to the xmas light backyard, Pearl beers, and customized coozies.  With the closing of Gene’s New Orleans, Shuck Shack is a welcome addition to Austin’s east side.  Despite the restaurant’s name, raw oysters are not served but should be by Fall (I think its a City of Austin matter).  Will be open for lunch in the near future and always closed on Mondays.  For anyone complaining about the price of the food, take advantage of the $2 Pearl and Lonestars served all day every day.

Shuck Shack patio

Gorgeous patio.  We were in a huge group and managed to put two picnic tables together.  They need an industrial fan out there because the flies were miserable.

Shuck Shack exterior

The house has a window at the bar which is great for those playing games outside.  Inside is pretty compact so don’t expect to sit there with a big group.  Really fun retro diner furniture.

$2 beers all day every day is something I can handle! If you stick with the appetizers, prices aren't too bad. Now I just need to teach my girl bocce ball.

I cannot believe I just now discovered your site! I love it and got here via Save-For-Later.com. The pictures on your site are amazing, and your hair is soooo shiny in your blog profile pic. Lovely! Keep up the good work. I’ve made sure to link you in the Austin blogroll part of my site. :0)

WAY over-priced for the portions you get. the sides come in dinky plastic cups. it’s a cool place, but they need to make a few adjustments in my (and the other 3 i ate there with’s) opinion.

I LOVE this place! It’s super chill, relatively reasonable for seafood and FUN! Even my hubby…who hates seafood…likes Shuck Shack. The hush puppies are crazy good. Oh…and the crab cakes…. :)

Nice to see they carry Saint Arnold Root Beer!

The food was overpriced, and the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp was NOT Nola style, it was simply 5 shrimp in a plain, olive oil and butter soup. Trust me, it was no good, and the fact that this place is called the Shuck Shack with no raw oysters is simply false advertising.
