After closing on my new condo, I could think of no better way to celebrate with friends than having dinner at Justine’s, the newish french restaurant in Austin’s East side.  Be prepared, it’s pretty far down on 5th, so do not be concerned while driving on a one way dirt road next to a train track, you are headed in the right direction!   Once inside, we realized the drive was worth it.  The food is exceptional, the wine is well priced, only the snotty waitress left something to be desired.  Austin only has a handful of french restaurants and Justine’s stands out for food and ambiance.  This restaurant is very dark and romantic, xmas lights decorate the property, and the loud music guarantees privacy from other tables conversations.  I will be back, and will be ordering escargots on the next visit!  FYI: I definitely recommend making reservations days in advance, as it’s a small restaurant and always packed, Justine herself will personally respond to your phone message and confirm a time.  Closed on Tuesdays.

The restaurant grounds are so well lit with xmas lights, you cannot miss it.  The restaurant is on 5th between Springdale and Spencer.

Cheese Plate, I love how it’s all about the cheese and non of the other fillers or decorations other restaurants add to it.  Two hard and one soft high quality french cheeses.

you’re blog is nice and i enjoy the reviews on the diff restaurants in town, but, IMO, you really need a new camera. you’re pictures aren’t doing the food or article justice and you’d be amazed what an investment it would be.

Props girl. I love Justine’s… a little pricey for me (but I am a broke student). I will say this much — I love their patte, escargot and duck confit. You should try those if ever you get another chance.

I am commenting also to tell you that your little featurette on our little blog is up!

I went to Justine’s a couple weeks ago and it. was. amazing. I loved the relaxed yet still classy ambiance of the restaurant — when we went, there was a wait to sit inside so we got seated at a little (practically private!) table outside, which turned out to be really awesome. I got the French Onion soup as well, which was amazing, as well as the special, which was a grilled fish dish, perfectly cooked and with paired with lemony green beans. Made for a wonderful evening, I hope Justine’s does well.

Congrats on the new condo. That is wonderful news! I’m looking forward to trying Justine’s. I know that the reviews have been mixed but hopefully I’ll have an experience as positive as yours when I make it over there.
